While there are a number of companies these days that offer emergency medical alert systems, if you want to keep your search for the perfect one short, consider starting with Bay Alarm Medical.

The company has a number of things going for it. They’re a veteran of the industry, have a tremendous management team and an army of users who have provided them with enviable reviews, to say the least.

Still, don’t go placing your order quite yet. It would still be prudent to consider the following about this device before spending any money.

How Bay Alarm Medical Works

bay alarm medical

Bay Alarm Medical gives you a base unit and a pendant system. The latter can be worn as a necklace or a bracelet, which is pretty standard these days.

As soon as the user believes they are facing an emergency situation, they can press the button on their pendant to be put into contact with an emergency dispatcher immediately. The responder is trained to react as appropriate to the call, whether that means calling the police, a family member, caretaker, etc.

Multilingual services are available too, making Bay Alarm Medical a great option for those who don’t speak English as a first language.

Their website features a number of really helpful videos that instruct users in everything from how to set up their system to actually using it. Although instructions are provided with your order as well, some might prefer these instead.

Company Background

Bay Alarm Medical may have one of the longest histories in the industry, stretching all the way back until 1945. They operate throughout the continental United States as well as Hawaii and Alaska. The company itself is located in Alaska.

One thing that has always separated Bay Area Medical from most of their competitors is their insistence on maintaining low overhead. By doing this, they’re also able to offer customers an extremely affordable product (more on that in a minute).

For example, you’ll never see a Bay Alarm Medical commercial on TV because of how expensive they are. Instead, they’ve put their resources into providing current customers with the best possible support because they know that this will produce referrals.

This would also help to justify their claim that they are the number-one rated medical alert system in the entire country.

Pros

Free Monitoring For Spouse - Bay Alarm Medical will provide complimentary service for your spouse or an additional family member.  Just simply purchase a second pendant and they're provide free alarm monitoring for your loved one.

Affordable Cost - Obviously, a big pro right off the bat is the cost. As we pointed out earlier, Bay Alarm Medical has gone out of their way to ensure they can offer an extremely affordable, yet high-quality product. In this, they have definitely succeeded.

Although you could pay as low as $25/month—which may be one of the cheapest prices out there—the customer reviews and years in business prove that you won’t be getting some second-rate system.

No Long-Term Contracts - Along the same lines, we love that there are no long-term contracts. If you come to find that Bay Alarm Medical isn’t for you, just go ahead and cancel. It’s not like you’re risking lot of money to begin with either. All you have to do is cancel over the phone and send the equipment back to them.

Fire and Carbon Monoxide Add-ons Available - Finally, there are fire/smoke and carbon monoxide detectors available as well, which are a major plus.

Overall, the company offers a number of options, as you can see from the pricing table above. It’s definitely a lot more than most of their competitors even get close to putting up. Due to their flexible contracts, you can easily add different options in—or take them away—as you see fit, which is pretty great.

Cons

No In-House Monitoring - Unfortunately, Bay Alarm Medical doesn’t have their own dispatch center. Their call monitoring is handled by a U.S.-based partner, so they run the risk of lacking control over the way their customers are treated.

That being said, the company also meets UL-quality standards and those put forth by CSAA Five Diamond Certification. Therefore, while it’s possible that their quality control could lack because they don’t have they don’t run their own call monitoring centers, it obviously hasn’t become an issue yet.

Final Thoughts

What’s not to love about Bay Alarm Medical alert systems? With all the options they bring to the table, you should have no problem finding one that fits your exact needs, which includes budgetary concerns.

Though Bay Alarm Medical may not enjoy the same brand recognition as some of their competitors, this hasn’t seemed to hurt business much. They have a history that goes back decades and a lot of customers all over the country who will vouch for them.
